Turning The Tide

Volunteering Opportunities

This project brings together LGBTQ+ youth and the organisations that support them to connect, share experiences, learn from one another, and take action together. It’s a space where your voice matters and where ideas can turn into meaningful impact.

Our goal is simple: to help protect the rights of LGBTQ+ people, create lasting positive change, and move toward a fairer, more inclusive future for everyone.

If you’re passionate about making a difference, we’d love you to get involved.

Benefits of volunteering for Turning The Tide:

You will play a vital role in supporting a UK-wide project to improve the lives of LGBTQ+ young people.

You will receive a full induction to The Kite Trust and Turning the Tide, and will receive training.

You will receive supervision from a member of the Turning the Tide team, who will work with you to try and ensure the volunteer role provides you with appropriate support and development opportunities.

You will gain valuable experience of the LGBTQ+ youth voluntary sector and be supported by the Turning the Tide team to develop your skills in areas relevant to your volunteer role.

You will be invited to social and networking events for Turning the Tide volunteers and The Kite Trust staff.

You will be able to request references from the Turning the Tide team for future volunteering or employment opportunities.

For in-person event volunteers, you may have the opportunity to attend an invitation-only event for LGBTQ+ young people and LGBTQ+ youth sector professionals.

For any in-person roles/tasks, travel expenses will be paid.

You will be invited to join the UK LGBTQ+ Youth Professionals’ Collaboration Network, which will give you access to regular updates and opportunities from LGBTQ+ youth organisations across the UK.
