“Being part of a community is good for us adults, as well as the young people. Feeling like we help each other is also great and empowering for everyone!”

Apply to Volunteer!

We are always looking for passionate people who are looking to make a difference in the lives of LGBTQ+ young people.

As a volunteer, you may help out at a youth group, attend a family event, represent The Kite Trust in your community, and a lot more!

Anyone aged 16 and older who wants to improve the lives of young people is welcome to apply. We are looking for volunteers in Cambridge, Ely, Huntingdon, March, Peterborough, St. Neots, and Wisbech. There are also limited options to help out online.

Want to give volunteering a go? You can help out as a one-off or on an ongoing basis.

Fill out the quick form below and our Volunteers Coordinator will be in touch!

If you live or work in Fenland – we’d especially love to hear from you! We’re currently running a pilot project to identify how volunteering can be part of tackling loneliness amongst the LGBTQ+ communities of Fenland.

Skills & Experience

Whatever your experience and skills, if you want to help – we want to hear from you!

All volunteers undergo an enhanced DBS check and are asked to provide two references. You’ll have a quick interview with our Volunteers Coordinator to make sure we find the best role for you. You will receive training relevant to your role (including safeguarding training) before your first day.

You will get a chance to:

  • Help young LGBTQ+ people connect with their peers and have a safe space to be their true, authentic selves
  • Gain an in-depth knowledge about issues facing the LGBTQ+ community
  • Experience working for and with young people
  • Meet LGBTQ+ people and allies in your community, make friends, and expand your network
  • Gain valuable experience for school, university, and work
  • Make a real difference in the lives of young people and LGBTQ+ communities in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
