Hello from Our New CEOs

The Board of Trustees at The Kite Trust is very pleased to announce the appointment of Kai Girling-Weeks and Felix Turney to the newly established role of Co-Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Both Kai, our Head of Operations (pronouns they/them), and Felix, our Programme Manager (pronouns they/them/theirs), are established members of our Senior Leadership Team and bring a combined eight years of experience within the charity. They will officially step into their new roles on 4th May 2026.

Over the last few months, The Kite Trust has navigated a series of transitions at the CEO level. The Trustees believe that the combined skills, knowledge, and experience that both Kai and Felix bring, along with their deep passion and commitment to our mission to support LGBTQ+ Youth, will provide the stable and effective leadership needed.

They are the right team to build on our current momentum: refocusing our efforts on impactful, safe youth work and delivering a sustainable long-term strategy for the organisation.

I am sure that our stakeholders and partners will join us in congratulating Kai and Felix as they lead The Kite Trust into this next chapter.

Steve Cheetham

Interim Chair of Trustees

Kai and Felix shared the following statement:

“We are delighted to take on this new role and are grateful for the opportunity to lead The Kite Trust in this next chapter. As longstanding members of TKT’s senior leadership who have worked across all of its teams, we have a deep understanding and appreciation of the life-affirming and life-saving work our staff and volunteers deliver every day.

We are excited to take on leadership of The Kite Trust and its dedicated and skilled team, and will do whatever we can to ensure The Kite Trust continues to deliver outstanding services to LGBTQ+ young people and wider work to improve their lives through training, schools work, research, policy and advocacy, and youth voice. We will be consulting with staff, volunteers, service users and other stakeholders in the coming months to develop our next strategy and ensure that the vision we deliver for The Kite Trust has the needs and priorities of LGBTQ+ young people at its heart.”
